Cards

A quick post:

The other day, I did an interview for my masters program. I wanted to send her a thank you card for taking the time out of her day to help me out. I used scrabble tiles (Available at Michael's) to spell out "Thanks."

I also had to make a Birthday card for my friend/colleague, Becky!
These were pretty simple cards to make. But I was running out of time and energy to finish them. They turned out pretty cute if I do say so myself.

Jenna's Bachelorette Party

The Bachelorette Weekend came and went very quickly. It was a fun and relaxing weekend for the bride-to-be! Here are a couple of pictures from the weekend that I wanted to share with you.
Tablescape: The purple "tablecloth" was actually just fabric from the craft store. All the apothocary jars were bought from TJ Maxx and Michael's. The I DO wooden letters were purchased from Michaels. I used Martha Stewart glue and glitter to decorate them. On top of the glitter, I used Mod Podge to keep the glitter from rubbing off.
The cupcakes were Jenna's favorite! Funfetti
I used my "Tie the Knot" Cricut cartridge to create these adorable cupcake toppers.
I found these martini glasses at TJ Maxx for a very cheap price. Then used my cricut to put vinyl decals on the base. I put a ring (the bride got a diamond, the bridesmaids got a purple gem) and a monogram.
Here is a picture of one of the martini glasses with special wine glass charms and ice cubes!

Dad's Birthday Card

My dad's birthday is coming up next week. I am going home for the weekend to throw my best friend her bridal shower and thought I better bring his gift and card home with me because I won't be able to see him on the actual day. Here is the simple, but very cute card I made.

Bridal Shower Game Present

For Jenna's bridal shower, we will be playing a couple of games. The winners of the games gets to choose a prize. One of the prizes is a gift card to Starbucks. I wanted to make a cute little container to put the gift card in, this is what I cam up with.

Bridal Shower Favors

I came across the idea of bottle cap magnets when I was walking around downtown Chico. As I was looking at them, I thought that it would be a cute idea for the bridal shower favor that I was in charge of. Once I got the magnets done, I knew that I was going to need a cute way to display all of them. As I was looking around on some blogs, I saw the idea of using chalkboard spray paint. I used three cookie sheets (from the Dollar Store) and spray painted them with 2 coats of the black chalkboard paint (from Michaels).
On this first one, I used Modge Podge to attach scrapbook paper to the bottom section of the cookie sheet. Then I attached "eggplant" ribbon. Oh and by the way, you can also get 100 pieces of chalk at the dollar tree. So, this was a super easy and cheap project.
On this second one, I kept it very simple by adding a piece of silver ribbon and then an embellishment from Michaels.
On the third one, once again just keeping it simple, attached a ribbon on the left hand side.
Here are the three bottle caps that each guest will receive at the end of the party. I hope they like them :)

Bachelorette Party Invitations

Last October, my friend Alison got married. Her invitations were super cool, but when I got it I thought, "Wow, I could make this!" So, this October my best friend Jenna is getting married. Of course I am her maid of honor, so I am in charge of planning the bachelorette party. Here is the adorable invitation!
I used the "Tie the Knot" Cricut cartridge to cut out the lingerie and placed "eggplant" ribbon on the side.
As you can see, the inside of the invitation had multiple layers. I was able to include a ton of information inside of this invite.
I put three separate cards on the inside pocket. One for directions, one for the event schedule, and one about the lingerie party.

This is a picture of the back of the invitation. I kept debating about putting some kind of brads or sticker on the back to keep the tab down, but decided I would rather keep it simple.

New Blog!!!

Well, the school year is getting ready to begin. I have been out working in my classroom and going to math training. Next week professional development classes start and then the kiddos will here! The other day when I was out at school, my friend Megan mentioned that her sister started a teaching blog that she was trying to get a bunch of people to join. She would love for us to put pictures of crafts and projects done in or for our classrooms, but we can also add other projects as well. So, if you get a chance go check it out (just click on the second blog button on the right side of the page).

Thinking of you ~ Sunflower Card

The other day while I was watching The Bachelorette, I was thinking about my friend Courtney. Her favorite bachelor is JP and he was pretty cute on their date in New York and then again when they were on their own private island! I stayed at her house about a month ago and she told me a funny story about her car looking like so many others! So, I decided to make her a decal that she could stick on the back window of her car. For as long as I have known Courtney, she has loved sunflowers. I made her two car decals because I wasn't sure which one she would like better. I also made her a cute sunflower card to send them in. I hope she likes them!!!

Master's Program Goodie Bags

Well, here they are!!!! The final product! I think they turned out SUPER cute and everyone in class loved them. The professor, Dr. Stout thought they were so creative and loved the thought that I put so much time and effort into creating something so cool for the whole class based on his theories. I got some major brownie points today! Yaya

Master's Program Goodie Bags

Scrabble Piece Magnets! I am in the process of completing my Master's in Education program at Chico State. This summer we had to take two classes. One was Inquiry to Education and the other was School and Community Relationships. My professor in the School and Community class has experienced it all (well at least it seems that way)! He has a funny way of explaining his theories to us, which make them hard to forget. So, for the last day of class I decided to make little goodie bags for everyone (luckily there are only 12 people). Inside the bags I put two magnets. One with an alligator and the other with a goose crossing sign. Both of these have significant meaning to everyone in the class and I am hoping they will take them to their administrative offices so they will always have a constant reminder.
The process: Michael's sells these wooden alphabet squares, or you can always use an old scrabble games. Then I just went online and googled the images that I was looking for. I printed them out, glued them to the wooden square, then used "Modge Podge" to secure them into place. I also bought the magnets at Michaels and just glued them onto the back.

Also included in the goodie bag was a small notebook with the initials MBWA (because education is known for its use of acronyms). The MWBA stands for "Management By Walking Around." I thought this was a small enough notebook that people could carry around with them. But who wants to carry around an ugly old notebook, so I jazzed it up a bit with some cute scrapbooking! I used apple, star, and "I Love School" paper. I attached a ribbon to the left hand side of the notebook. Then using the "Makin' the Grade" Cricut cartridge cut out the initials.

Last, but not least I decided to make a thank you card for my professor. He definitely made the afternoons this summer go by quickly. The main reason I decided to make him a card was to show him how much I appreciated him helping me with my resume. I am applying for a new position in the school district and thought I could use his expertise to help update my resume!
Pictures of Goodie Bags are soon to come!

Happy Year ~ Birthday Card

My grandpa's 85th birthday is on July 7th! I made this cute card to send to him. He and my grandma are going to my parent's house for a small birthday celebration. Unfortunately, I am not going to be able to make it because classes for my masters program begin Wednesday. Even though I will not be able to see him on his special day, I know he will enjoy the card and enjoy being with my mom and dad!
